2 more passes this Friday – 27th November 2009

We had 2 more passes on Friday.  Congratulations to both Paul Tait and Alastair McConville who passed with Phil after taking an Intensive Driving Course.

Do you have 6 points on your Provisional Driving Licence?

A pupil recently asked us what happens when you take your driving test and already have 6 points on your provisional driving licence.  She was worried because she’d heard that if you get 6 points on your driving licence after passing your driving test you have to re-take the test.  She’d called the DSA but was still confused. So what’s the answer?

Well she’s correct that if you get 6 points on your driving licence within 2 years of passing your driving test the you loose your licence and have to take the driving test again.  But in this case, because she already had 6 points on her provisional licence she can take the test, and assuming she passes, get a full UK driving licence.

However, the 6 points will remain on her full licence for 4 years.  She’ll have to contact the DVLA to contact the DVLA once the 4 years have expired to get them removed – that doesn’t happen automatically.

Importantly, if she gets any more points within 2 year of passing her driving test then her licence will be revoked and she’ll need to take another driving test.  That’s another £62 for a driving test plus a few more hours with an instructor.

The 6 points on her licence will likely mean higher insurance premiums when she comes to insure a car and once the 2 year period is up, if she goes on to amount a total of 12 points she’ll face a full ban from driving.

Congratulations to Dominic Bradley – passed 1st October 2009

Well done to Dominic Bradley who passed his driving test after taking just 20 hours with John Waite.

Dominic said: “WOO!!! I passed my driving test today with John! He is a great instructor and taught me so much in just 20 hours! I would recommend him to anyone. Cheerz John …. well seeing as I passed I went down town tonight with a convoy of cars, bit scary on the motorway but it felt so good to be able to drive when I want, where I want! “

Congratulations to Martin Taft – passed 1st October 2009

Well done to Martin Taft who passed his driving test with Phil on Thursday after taking an Intensive Driving Course in Bristol.

Martin said: “the course was excellent, with the lessons being tailored to my learning curve. I can not more highly reconmend taking an intensive course with Momentum, i have tried to pass my driving test with over schools and by doing a lesson a week and this has not worked for me however with the focus, experience and professionilism of the team at Momentum helped me pass my test with ease.
